Fast food favourites
When it comes to our most-loved cuisines, Brits are certainly still fans of the takeaway classics. Ever popular Chinese food comes out on top, with more than two in five of us ranking it as our favourite, with British and Indian following closely behind.
Yet while the popular cuisines that we all know and love are undeniably tasty, nearly a third (30%) of Brits have revealed that they are conscious of the weight gain that can result from eating takeaway food regularly.
As such, keen to prioritise health and reduce spending, more than a quarter (28%) of Brits are looking to cook more meals at home. But despite these good intentions, many of us don’t know where to start. In fact, over a third (38%) of respondents revealed they sometimes find cooking too time-consuming, and more than a quarter (28%) feel they lack the cooking skills to cook proper meals themselves.
With this in mind, we’re showing people how simple it can be with the help of their easy-to-use kitchen appliances. From the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer, which uses up to 75% less fat than traditional frying methods², to the Ninja Foodi MAX 15-in-1 SmartLid Multi-Cooker, which cooks food up to 70% faster than traditional cooking methods³, Ninja appliances do the hard work for you, with incredible results.
The healthier option
We’re is on a mission to prove that cooking delicious food at home doesn’t have to be complicated, helping Brits recreate healthier ‘fakeaway’ versions of their favourite takeaway meals quickly and easily at home – all without compromising on taste.
The survey findings reveal that over a third (36%) of Brits have never attempted to recreate a ‘fakeaway’ dish at home, and that two thirds (67%) of adults under 25 order takeaways because they don’t have the right cooking appliances to create quick and tasty meals at home themselves.
And with a quarter of us looking for recipe inspiration, Ninja Test Kitchen – part of the Ninja Kitchen family – is a one-stop destination for all your recipe needs. From curries to kebabs to pizzas, Ninja Test Kitchen has a range of recipes which are easy to follow, no matter your confidence in the kitchen.
The cost of fast food
Despite growing concerns over the costs of takeaways, Brits are spending an average of £1,758 on takeaways each year. Adults under 25 to be the biggest takeaway fans, spending on average a whopping £43 on takeaway meals from delivery services and fast-food outlets each week (up to £2,580 a year).
However, the findings show that people are also increasingly worried about the cost of takeaways, from both delivery services and fast-food outlets. As the cost-of-living soars, almost half (46%) of Brits think that fast-food is too expensive, despite nearly a third (30%) of us spending more on takeaways now compared to before the pandemic.
Since the return to the office after lockdowns, the fast pace of our daily lives has returned to pre-pandemic levels, leaving less time to think about food. As such, it is perhaps unsurprising that over two fifths (41%) of respondents aged 25-34 regularly opt for takeaways out of convenience, choosing them over home-cooked meals, to suit their busy schedules.
