A healthier and veganised twist on the British classic of Fish and Chips made using the Ninja Foodi!

Vegan Fish and Chips

5 - 1 review

  • 6 medium potatoes
  • Water
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder or garlic salt
  • 1 tbsp dried mixed herbs
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 faux fish fillets
  • 4 small carrots
  • Cup of peas (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Ketchup or tartar sauce to serve
Prep Time

  1. To make the air fried potato wedges, slice six medium potatoes into wedges. Then add some water into the pot and add the sliced potatoes on top of the basket and place that into the Ninja Foodi. Assemble the pressure lid, press pressure, choose 3 minutes and press start

  2. Then in a bowl mix the flour with paprika powder, salt, garlic powder and mixed herbs

  3. When the pressure cooking is complete, carefully release the pressure by putting the valve onto vent. Then douse over some olive oil and coat the wedges in your mix

  4. Attach the crisping lid and select air crisp, set the temperature to 200 degrees and the time to 30 mins, then press start. I’d recommend checking on your potatoes and tossing them a bit at 15 mins and then continue cooking them until your desired crunch and crispiness is achieved

  5. The vegan faux fish fillets can also be cooked in the Ninja Foodi by roasting them on top of the rack placed inside the pot, selecting roast and a temperature of 200 degrees for 15 mins

  6. To steam the carrots, peel 4 big carrots and cut them into circles. Add some water to the pot and then place the sliced carrots on the reversible rack with the shallow side down, press Steam and select 7 mins

  7. If you have frozen peas you can just add them at the end of the seven minutes on top of the carrots with a bit of hot water and they will thaw and get a nice warm juicy crunch

I'm Ellie, to the pride of my no-fuss history loving parents, I confirm every millennial stereotype in the (online) book. I love avocado toasts, think working out and meditation help my mental health, and feel like I'm racing against myself in this society. At the end of the day, I would like to say that I don't only have a good banana bread to my name. I love uni and learning and studying about the process of waste disposal gets me very excited, languages and debating  are my jam. But on the other hand, (insert parental eye roll), I'm a vegan too. With the cliché of wanting to make the world a better place, I strive for progression, ethically, environmentally and personally.
