Vegan Oat Waffles with Warm Berries

I absolutely love pairing chewy waffles with creamy yogurt and warm berries! This recipe isn’t as fluffy or sweet as your typical waffles, but it uses oats, protein powder and cashew butter to give you a delicious and balanced breakfast.

Vegan Oat Waffles with Warm Berries

  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds + 2 tbsp water
  • 50g oats
  • 15g protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 75ml almond milk
  • 1 tbsp smooth cashew butter
Prep Time


  1. Turn on your waffle maker.

  2. Mix the flax seeds and water in a small dish and set aside. This mixture will gel together and is used in place on an egg in the recipe.

  3. Add the oats to your blender and pulse until they become the consistency of flour. This should take less than 20 seconds. Transfer the homemade oat flour to a bowl and stir in the protein powder and baking powder.

  4. Wait for a couple of minutes for the flax seed to gel together. Add the flax mixture, almond milk and cashew butter to the dry ingredients. Mix well.

  5. Your waffle maker should be at the correct temperature by now. Pour the batter onto the centre of your waffle maker and close the lid firmly.

  6. Cook the waffles according to the instructions for your waffle maker (for mine that is 7-8 minutes).Serve the waffles with your choice of toppings. For example, yogurt and warm berries.
