Tip: Melt 100g butter with 100g of your favourite chocolate and spread on top of still warm cake.
Add nuts and dried fruit to dough before baking to add texture.
Add 1 grated apple to dough before baking to get extra moist cake.
- 350g plain flour
- ¼ tsp clove
- 170g caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp ginger powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp allspice
- 3 eggs
- 200ml oil
- 100ml milk
- Cooking spray - for greasing
In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients and then add the eggs, oil and milk. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
Use cooking pot without grill plate or basket installed. Close the lid. Select BAKE, set temperature to 170°C and set time to 30 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin preheating.
When the unit beep to signify it has preheated, open lid and lightly grease the pot with cooking spray or line with baking parchment.
Pour cake mixture into the pot and close lid to begin cooking.
After 30 minutes, check whether cake is cooked through. Cooking is complete when a wooden skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean. Carefully remove cooking pot and let cool down.
Serve warm or cold.
