Bombay Potatoes

These potatoes make the perfect side dish to any Indian meal. Also known as Bombay Aloo, they make a regular appearance at our dinner table.

  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2lb baby potatoes, washed
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 240ml water
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
Prep Time


  1. Press Saute to pre heat the Foodi

  2. Once hot, add oil or ghee

  3. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds, saute for 30 seconds or until you can hear crackling

  4. Add the potatoes, garlic and salt. Saute for 8 – 10 minutes

  5. Pierce the potatoes slightly using the tip of a knife

  6. Stir in the coriander, cumin, red chilli powder and turmeric and quickly stir to coat. Then pour in the water

  7. Assemble the pressure cooking lid and place it to the lock position. Press manual and pressure cook for 11 minutes

  8. Use the quick pressure release function by pressing cancel, and carefully turning the steam release to the venting position

  9. Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice
