Apple Breakfast Slices

These quick and easy slices are made from oats, dried fruit, nuts and apples – all the good stuff for a healthy snack or breakfast on the go. Great for all the family to enjoy, you could also use pears and swap the cinnamon for ginger for a different twist!

  • For The Base
  • 100g rolled oats
  • 100g dates
  • 100g sultanas or dates
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp almond or peanut butter
  • 4 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • For The Topping
  • 2 large apples, cut into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or dairy-free margarine
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp flaked almonds
Prep Time


  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees C and grease and line a 20cm loose-bottomed cake tin.

  2. Place the base ingredients into your Ninja Kitchen blender and whizz up on high so the mixture breaks down and comes together in a slightly sticky mixture.

  3. Spread this into the tin evenly and bake for 10 minutes.

  4. Meanwhile, heat the oil or margarine in a small non-stick pan with the coconut sugar then add in the apples and cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes until softened and caramelised.

  5. Take the base out of the oven, spread over the apples evenly along with any remaining sauce, sprinkle over the almonds and bake for a further 5 minutes.

  6. Leave to cool in the tin before removing and cutting into bars – and enjoy!
